Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a redesign cost?

A redesign project can cost as little as my hourly consultation rate. We can complete the project without buying anything new, unless you choose to do so. I charge per hour for consultation and redesign work. If you are interested in purchasing new items for your redesigned room, such as accessories or window treatments, I can help you do that, also at an hourly rate.

Why should I hire a certified redesigner?

Certified redesigners have been trained in the process of designing rooms using existing furnishings.  We know how to optimize use of items you already own. We're experienced in design principles including use of color, texture and scale. We try to add balance to any room, and focus on usability and live-ability! We want to help you create a room you will love to be in, that reflects your taste and works with your family's lifestyle.

How long will the redesign take?

A complete room can be finished in just a few hours, and a complete house can sometimes be done in a single day. When we meet to discuss your project, I can give you an accurate estimate of the time involved to complete the project.

Should I be home during the redesign, or should I plan to leave the house?

We can do it either way. I can bring an assistant to work with me, or you can stay and work with me. Rates differ based on which method you choose. Some people love to leave their house, have me "do my thing" for a few hours, and come back to a completely new look. I love the look on their faces when they walk back in the room and see the transformation!

What is the process to do a redesign?

First, we meet at your house to discuss the project, review the current situation and discuss your opinions and desires. During this first meeting, we schedule the day for the actual redesign work. On that day, we remove everything from the room, evaluate what will work best, then bring your items back in, in a new configuration, that works best with the room, including your decorations, artwork, accessories, and so on.
